the anguish of watching loved ones murdered in violent night raids.

the physical torture of repeated rape and beatings.

the emptiness of life as a slave, valued little more than livestock.

They are victims of this horrible practice of slavery — a crime against humanity.

Since the mid-1980s, Sudan has experienced a revival of slavery. What is so disturbing is the involvement of the government of Sudan. Sudanese government officials use slave raids as an instrument of its jihad against black African communities. Many of the enslaved are Christians.

Slaves are subject to forced labor, frequent beatings, racial insults, gang rape, and genital mutilation. A majority of the slaves are forced to convert to Islam.

The eradication of slavery is a must for lasting peace in Sudan!

After pressure from the U.S., the government of Sudan has suspended slave raiding in southern Sudan. But today, government-sponsored militias continue to enslave and rape women and children in Darfur, northern Sudan.

That is why Christian Solidarity International is calling for a COMMISSION TO MONITOR THE ERADICATION OF SLAVERY IN SUDAN. We are petitioning the White House to establish this task force to monitor and combat trafficking and report on all aspects of the eradication process.
